All About Swans

It’s ability not disability

Alsager Swans was founded in 1979 and is still going strong. Our aim is to provide disabled swimming and water therapy for anyone with a learning disability, physical disability or recovering from an injury or illness.

We are affiliated with Halliwick Association of Swimming Therapy (click here for more information about Halliwick).

We have a range of volunteers, with different skills, who are trained to safely and effectively give each swimmer the therapy they need. Swimmers are able to improve their water confidence and swimming skills, using a variety of water therapy techniques, on a one-to-one basis. Swimmers have the opportunity to work towards Halliwick badges and club certificates during their sessions. We end each swim session with some games to encourage increased social interaction between our swimmers.

In addition to our swim sessions, the club offers a variety of social activities throughout the year, allowing our club members to socialise in a friendly environment that is different from the pool. This also gives the swimmer’s parents/guardians/carers the opportunity to meet and socialise with other adults.
